About The Position

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated full-time START Service Coordinator to join our Child First START Team serving the Craven County area. Requirements

  • Master’s degree with licensure and 2+ years of experience OR Bachelor’s degree in human services with QP status and CADC (Master’s preferred)
  • Knowledge of ASAM Placement Criteria and levels of care
  • Experience with substance use disorder core functions, including assessment and treatment planning
  • Familiarity with co-occurring mental health disorders and treatment approaches
  • Proficiency in Motivational Interviewing and working with individuals in various stages of change
  • Strong collaboration, organization, and communication skills

  • Strong clinical foundation with experience in substance use and co-occurring disorders

Responsibilities

  • Support families enrolled in the START program by conducting timely substance use and co-occurring mental health assessments and making treatment recommendations using ASAM criteria.
  • Partner with child welfare professionals, family mentors, and treatment providers to ensure coordinated, trauma-informed care that prioritizes child safety.
  • Guide parents through complex systems, advocate for services, and coordinate care with Medicaid and community partners.
  • Monitor provider capacity.
  • Maintain accurate tracking for up to 24 families.
  • Participate in team meetings to share progress and address challenges.
  • Build strong relationships with community stakeholders through collaboration and outreach.
