About The Position

The Starbucks Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Starbucks location within the convention center, ensuring exceptional guest service, operational efficiency, and compliance with Starbucks brand standards. This role leads and motivates a team of baristas while maintaining a clean, welcoming, and high-performing café environment that serves convention attendees, exhibitors, visitors, and employees. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, event-driven environment, demonstrates strong customer service skills, and possesses a passion for developing team members.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience in food service, retail, hospitality, or coffee shop operations.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience handling cash and operating point-of-sale systems.
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and event days.
  • Food Handler Certification and/or ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • TABC Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with POS systems and basic computer applications.
  • Commitment to product quality, cleanliness, and operational excellence.
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure during peak business periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Starbucks leadership experience.
  • Two (2) or more years of food and beverage supervisory experience.
  • Experience working in convention centers, stadiums, arenas, hotels, or large-volume venues.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and support baristas to ensure consistent service and product quality.
  • Create and maintain staffing schedules based on business demands and convention/event activity.
  • Provide performance feedback, recognize achievements, and address performance concerns professionally.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Oversee daily opening, operating, and closing procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Starbucks operational standards, food safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Monitor product quality, beverage consistency, and presentation standards.
  • Manage inventory levels, place orders, and minimize waste.
  • Conduct routine audits of cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness.
  • Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Build positive relationships with convention attendees, exhibitors, and facility staff.
  • Ensure a welcoming environment that reflects Starbucks' commitment to guest satisfaction.
  • Prepare for high-volume convention and event periods through effective staffing and inventory planning.
  • Coordinate with Food & Beverage leadership to support special events and promotions.
  • Adapt quickly to changing business demands and guest traffic patterns.
