About The Position

Create the Starbucks experience for Food City shoppers by providing prompt service, quality beverages and products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment. The role supports the company mission to “Run the Best Store in Town!” by delivering courteous customer service, preparing orders to customer satisfaction, and providing consistent beverages, whole-bean coffee, and food products according to recipe and presentation standards. The Barista engages with customers, provides product information, uses suggestive selling techniques, and samples products. The position also involves operating a POS system, preparing and stocking Starbucks products, maintaining product quality and safety, following food-handling procedures, and using tools and equipment safely. Associates are required to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and follow company time and attendance policies.

Requirements

Must be 16 years of age or older.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to learn how to mix a wide variety of coffee and tea products.
Ability to learn the ingredients used in various products.
Ability to work with Starbucks ingredients, including coffees, teas, spices, nuts, flavorings, sauces, and oils.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks.
Ability to have constant contact and interaction with individuals at various levels on a daily basis.
Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and adhere to company time and attendance policies.

Nice To Haves

Food service or coffee experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

Provide efficient and courteous customer service in support of the company mission.
Take customer orders and ensure they are completed promptly and to customers’ satisfaction.
Prepare, bag, pour, and stock Starbucks products, rotating items to maintain product quality and safety.
Maintain a positive and friendly attitude toward customers and fellow associates.
Engage with customers by offering product information, using suggestive selling techniques, and sampling products.
Process cash register transactions using the POS system.
Prepare quality beverages, whole-bean coffee, and food products consistently, following recipe and presentation standards.
Represent the culture, values, and mission of Food City and Starbucks with integrity, honesty, and knowledge.
Operate tools and equipment while following routine and safety procedures.
Follow the company food safety program and food-handling procedures.
Attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and adhere to company time and attendance policies.
