About The Position

Create the Starbucks experience for Food City shoppers by providing prompt service, quality beverages and products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment. This role provides courteous customer service, takes and fulfills orders, prepares and serves Starbucks products, and processes transactions. The Barista follows Starbucks recipe and presentation standards, Food City food-safety and food-handling procedures, and routine equipment and safety procedures. The position requires on-site attendance during scheduled shifts.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
• Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks and interact regularly with individuals at various levels.
• Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and adhere to company time and attendance policies.
• Learn to mix a wide variety of coffee and tea products and learn the ingredients used in various products.
• Work with Starbucks ingredients, including coffees, teas, spices, nuts, flavorings, sauces, and oils.

Nice To Haves

• Food-service or coffee experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient and courteous customer service in support of the company mission.
• Take customer orders and ensure they are completed promptly and to customers’ satisfaction.
• Prepare, bag, pour, and stock Starbucks products; rotate items to maintain product quality and safety.
• Maintain a positive and friendly attitude toward customers and fellow associates.
• Engage with customers by providing product information, using suggestive selling techniques, and sampling products.
• Process cash-register transactions using the POS system.
• Consistently provide quality beverages, whole-bean coffee, and food products by following recipe and presentation standards.
• Act with integrity, honesty, and knowledge in support of Food City and Starbucks culture, values, and mission.
• Operate tools and equipment while following routine and safety procedures.
• Follow the company food-safety program and food-handling procedures.
• Attend on-site work during scheduled shifts in accordance with company time and attendance policies.
