About The Position

Create the Starbucks experience for Food City shoppers by providing prompt service, quality beverages and products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment. The Barista takes customer orders, prepares beverages and food products according to recipe and presentation standards, processes transactions, and supports a positive customer experience while following company policies and food-safety procedures. The position requires on-site attendance during scheduled shifts. Food service or coffee experience is a plus but is not required.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to learn to prepare a wide variety of coffee and tea products and learn their ingredients.
• Ability to work with Starbucks ingredients, including coffees, teas, spices, nuts, flavorings, sauces, and oils.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks, and interact with individuals at various levels on a daily basis.
• Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts in accordance with company time and attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient and courteous customer service in support of the company mission.
• Take customer orders and ensure they are completed promptly and to customers’ satisfaction.
• Prepare, bag, pour, and stock Starbucks products, rotating items to support product quality and safety.
• Maintain a positive and friendly attitude toward customers and fellow associates.
• Engage with customers by providing product information, using suggestive selling techniques, and sampling products.
• Process cash register transactions using the POS system.
• Consistently provide quality beverages, whole-bean coffee, and food products by adhering to recipe and presentation standards.
• Represent the culture, values, and mission of Food City and Starbucks with integrity, honesty, and knowledge.
• Operate tools and equipment while following routine and safety procedures.
• Follow the company food-safety program and food-handling procedures.
• Attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and follow company time and attendance policies.
