About The Position

Create the Starbucks experience for Food City shoppers by providing prompt service, quality beverages and products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment. The barista takes customer orders, prepares orders promptly and to customers’ satisfaction, and prepares, bags, pours, and stocks Starbucks products while rotating items to maintain quality and safety. The role provides consistent, quality beverages, whole-bean coffee, and food products according to recipe and presentation standards; processes register transactions; and promotes Food City and Starbucks’ culture, values, and mission through integrity, honesty, and product knowledge. Associates must attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and follow company time and attendance policies.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
• Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks and interact regularly with individuals at various levels.
• Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and comply with time and attendance policies.

Nice To Haves

• Food service or coffee experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient and courteous customer service in support of the company mission.
• Take customer orders and ensure they are completed promptly and to customers’ satisfaction.
• Prepare, bag, pour, and stock Starbucks products, rotating items to maintain product quality and safety.
• Maintain a positive and friendly attitude toward customers and fellow associates.
• Engage with customers by offering product information, using suggestive selling techniques, and sampling products.
• Process cash register transactions using the POS system.
• Prepare quality beverages, whole-bean coffee, and food products consistently according to recipe and presentation standards.
• Represent the culture, values, and mission of Food City and Starbucks with integrity, honesty, and knowledge.
• Operate tools and equipment while following routine and safety procedures.
• Follow the company food safety program and food-handling procedures.
• Attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and adhere to company time and attendance policies.
