About The Position

The Starbucks Barista creates the Starbucks experience for Food City shoppers by providing prompt service, quality beverages and products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment. The role supports Food City’s mission to “Run the Best Store in Town!” and Starbucks’ culture, values, and mission. The position prepares and serves Starbucks beverages, whole bean coffee, and food products in accordance with recipe, presentation, quality, and food-safety standards. It also involves customer service, order fulfillment, product information and suggestive selling, POS transactions, and maintaining product quality and a safe, clean work environment. Associates are expected to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks and interact daily with individuals at various levels.
Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts in accordance with company time and attendance policies.
Learn to mix a wide variety of coffee and tea products and the ingredients used in various products.
Work with Starbucks ingredients including coffees, teas, spices, nuts, flavorings, sauces, and oils.

Nice To Haves

Food service or coffee experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

Provide efficient and courteous customer service in support of the company mission.
Take customer orders and ensure they are completed promptly and to customers’ satisfaction.
Prepare, bag, pour, and stock Starbucks products, rotating items to maintain product quality and safety.
Maintain a positive and friendly attitude toward customers and fellow associates.
Engage with customers by offering product information, using suggestive selling techniques, and sampling products.
Process cash register transactions using a POS system.
Consistently provide quality beverages, whole bean coffee, and food products by following recipe and presentation standards.
Represent the culture, values, and mission of Food City and Starbucks with integrity, honesty, and knowledge.
Operate tools and equipment while following routine and safety procedures.
Follow the company food-safety program and food-handling procedures.
Attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and adhere to company time and attendance policies.
