About The Position

Create the Starbucks experience for Food City shoppers by providing prompt service, quality beverages and products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment. The barista takes customer orders, prepares orders to customer satisfaction, prepares and stocks Starbucks products, and provides consistent beverages, whole bean coffee, and food products according to recipe and presentation standards. The role also involves POS transactions, customer engagement and suggestive selling, following food-safety and equipment procedures, and attending scheduled onsite shifts.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
• Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks and interact with individuals at various levels on a daily basis.
• Ability to attend onsite work during scheduled shifts in accordance with company time and attendance policies.
• Learn to mix a wide variety of coffee and tea products and learn their ingredients.
• Work with Starbucks ingredients, including coffees, teas, spices, nuts, flavorings, sauces, and oils.

Nice To Haves

• Food service or coffee experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient and courteous customer service in support of the company mission.
• Take customer orders and ensure they are completed promptly and to customers’ satisfaction.
• Prepare, bag, pour, and stock Starbucks products, rotating items to maintain quality and safety.
• Maintain a positive and friendly attitude toward customers and fellow associates.
• Engage with customers by providing product information, using suggestive selling techniques, and sampling products.
• Process cash register transactions using a POS system.
• Prepare quality beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently by following recipe and presentation standards.
• Promote Food City and Starbucks culture, values, and mission through integrity, honesty, and product knowledge.
• Operate tools and equipment while following routine and safety procedures.
• Follow the company food-safety program and food-handling procedures.
• Attend onsite work during scheduled shifts and comply with company time and attendance policies.
