About The Position

Create the Starbucks experience for Food City shoppers by providing prompt service, quality beverages and products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment. The barista takes and completes customer orders, prepares and presents Starbucks beverages and food according to recipes and standards, and supports product quality, safety, and store cleanliness. The role requires a positive, friendly attitude and consistent, courteous customer service while supporting the Food City and Starbucks missions and values. Associates attend scheduled on-site shifts and follow company time and attendance, food safety, food-handling, equipment, and safety procedures.

Requirements

Must be 16 years of age or older.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks and have constant contact or interaction with individuals at various levels on a daily basis.
Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and adhere to company time and attendance policies.
Learn to mix a wide variety of coffee and tea products and learn the ingredients used in various products.
Work with Starbucks ingredients, including coffees, teas, spices, nuts, flavorings, sauces, and oils.

Nice To Haves

Food service or coffee experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

Provide efficient and courteous customer service in support of the company mission.
Take customer orders and ensure they are completed in a timely manner and to customers’ satisfaction.
Prepare, bag, pour, and stock Starbucks products, rotating items to ensure product quality and safety.
Maintain a positive and friendly attitude toward customers and fellow associates.
Engage with customers by offering product information, using suggestive selling techniques, and sampling products.
Process cash register transactions using the POS system.
Provide consistent-quality beverages, whole bean coffee, and food products by adhering to recipe and presentation standards.
Act with integrity, honesty, and knowledge to promote the culture, values, and mission of Food City and Starbucks.
Operate tools and equipment consistently while following routine and safety procedures.
Follow the company food safety program and food-handling procedures.
Attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and adhere to company time and attendance policies.
