About The Position
The Starbucks Barista is part of Target’s Food & Beverage team, which supports a consistent guest experience by keeping products fresh, in stock, available, accurately priced, and properly presented. The role provides guests with a consistent Starbucks experience while supporting food quality, freshness, food safety, and efficient store operations. Baristas create a friendly and helpful guest experience, prepare handcrafted Starbucks food and beverages to recipe specifications, and maintain an inviting dining area. They follow Target and Starbucks routines and food-safety practices, complete food and beverage operations, and support other guest services as business needs require. The position involves active work, teamwork, flexibility, and a schedule that may include nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times.
Requirements
- Previous Starbucks or food-service experience is preferred but not required.
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
- Ability to communicate using multiple-frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to resolve guest questions quickly.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow multistep processes.
- Ability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and complete multiple tasks within established timeframes.
- Ability to access all areas of the building and interpret instructions, reports, and information.
- Ability to accurately handle cash-register operations as needed.
- Ability to climb up and down ladders if needed.
- Ability to scan, handle, and move merchandise safely and efficiently, frequently lifting or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 44 pounds without additional assistance.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and other peak shopping times, and to work scheduled shifts and take required meal and rest breaks.
- Ability to work in refrigeration and freezer conditions where common allergens may be present or handled.
- Ability to work in or be exposed to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing duties such as Drive-up and carryout.
- Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift; shift length may vary.

Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly, help them find what they need, resolve issues, and thank them at the end of transactions.
- Support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
- Prioritize guest needs and deliver a fresh, abundant shopping experience throughout store operating hours.
- Uphold Food & Beverage Standards and follow Target and Starbucks routines efficiently and safely.
- Complete food and beverage processes, including deliveries, replenishment, in-stock routines, data accuracy, culling, rotation, cleaning, signing, organizing, and storing reserve product.
- Stay aware of current and upcoming Starbucks promotions.
- Maintain an inviting dining area and engage with guests to meet and exceed Starbucks standards.
- Prepare handcrafted beverages and food according to recipe cards.
- Follow food-safety requirements, including monitoring and recording temperatures of temperature-sensitive food items.
- Complete and record cleaning tasks in the Starbucks area.
- Identify damaged, recalled, or expired items and process them according to best practices.
- Place store-initiated orders and follow perishable inventory procedures to maintain accurate in-stocks and inventory records.
- Execute sampling best practices and complete required Starbucks product quality-control training and certifications.
- Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; follow safety policies, report hazards, and correct hazards where possible.
- Support guest services such as backup cashiering, order pickup, and Drive-up while following applicable compliance requirements.
- Perform other duties based on business needs.
