About The Position

The Starbucks Barista supports Target’s Food & Beverage team by providing guests with a consistent Starbucks experience and maintaining fresh, available, accurately priced, and safely handled food and beverage products. The role includes preparing handcrafted beverages and food to recipe specifications, delivering friendly and helpful guest service, and keeping the Starbucks area clean, organized, and inviting. Baristas follow Target and Starbucks routines, food safety practices, quality-control requirements, and applicable safety and compliance standards. The position also supports other guest services and team needs as business requires.

Requirements

• Previous Starbucks or food service experience is preferred but not required.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
• Ability to communicate using multiple-frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to resolve guest questions quickly.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow multistep processes.
• Ability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and complete multiple tasks within established timeframes.
• Ability to access all areas of the building and interpret instructions, reports, and information.
• Ability to accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
• Ability to climb ladders if needed.
• Ability to scan, handle, and move merchandise safely and efficiently, including frequent lifting or moving of items up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting or moving of merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times; report for scheduled shifts and take required meal and rest breaks.
• Ability to work in refrigeration and freezer conditions where common allergens may be handled or present.
• Ability to work in and be exposed to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing duties such as Drive Up and carryout.
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of scheduled shifts, which may vary in length.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly, help them find what they need or resolve issues, and end transactions with a sincere thank you.
• Deliver an exceptional guest experience, prioritizing guest needs and adapting to business and guest needs.
• Support team efforts and assist peers in other areas with a positive and respectful attitude.
• Uphold and maintain Food & Beverage Standards.
• Execute food and beverage processes, including deliveries, replenishment, in-stock routines, data accuracy, culling, rotation, cleaning, signing, organizing, and storing reserve product.
• Stay aware of current and upcoming Starbucks promotions.
• Follow Target and Starbucks routines while completing tasks efficiently and maintaining food safety.
• Maintain an inviting dining area throughout the shift and engage with guests according to Starbucks standards.
• Prepare handcrafted beverages and food to recipe-card specifications.
• Monitor and record temperatures of temperature-sensitive food items and meet food safety requirements.
• Complete and record cleaning tasks in the Starbucks space.
• Identify damaged, recalled, or expired items and process them according to best practices.
• Place store-initiated orders and follow perishable inventory procedures to maintain accurate in-stocks and inventory records.
• Execute sampling best practices and complete required training and certifications related to Starbucks product quality control.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; follow safety policies and training, report hazards, and correct them where possible.
• Support guest services such as backup cashiering, order pickup, and Drive Up, while complying with applicable laws and policies.
• Perform other duties based on business needs.
