About The Position

ELM Utility Services is seeking a Standby Monitor Technician in The Colony, Texas. This role involves monitoring excavation activities near high-profile gas facilities to ensure safe and approved practices are followed. The position also includes verifying previous locate marks, damage prevention through education and preventative patrolling, and maintaining daily contact with various stakeholders. Starting wages range from $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
At least 90 days of proven, gas locating experience is required.
Valid driver’s license with a good motor vehicle record.

Responsibilities

Monitor excavation activities near high-profile gas facilities and ensure that safe and approved practices are utilized.
Verify previous locate marks made by other ELM Locate Technicians.
Ensure damage prevention through education and preventative patrolling.
Verify previous marking for high-profile underground gas utilities.
Complete all necessary paperwork.
Maintain daily contact with utility managers, crews, homeowners and contractors, discussing locate issues.
Receive daily jobs via computer/device.
Prioritize daily work by going through all locate requests to determine routing.
Read and understand utility-provided maps to assist in identification of underground utilities.
Ensure that clients and contractors suffer no damages or injuries due to mis-located utilities.
Monitor active excavations near high-profile gas facilities and ensuring safe practices are used.
Inspect exposed gas facilities for damage.
