About The Position

ELM Utility Services is seeking a Standby Monitor Technician in Duncanville, Texas. The primary responsibility is to monitor excavation activities near high-profile gas facilities and ensure safe and approved practices are utilized. This role also involves verifying previous locate marks, damage prevention through education, and preventative patrolling. Starting wages range from $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
At least 90 days of proven, gas locating experience is required.
Valid driver’s license with a good motor vehicle record.

Responsibilities

Monitor excavation activities near high-profile gas facilities and ensure that safe and approved practices are utilized.
Verify previous locate marks made by other ELM Locate Technicians.
Damage prevention through education and preventative patrolling.
Verifying previous marking for high-profile underground gas utilities.
Completing all necessary paperwork.
Maintaining daily contact with utility managers, crews, homeowners and contractors, discussing locate issues.
Receiving daily jobs via computer/device.
Prioritizing daily work by going through all locate requests to determine routing.
Reading and understanding utility-provided maps to assist in identification of underground utilities.
Ensuring that clients and contractors suffer no damages or injuries due to mis-located utilities.
Monitoring active excavations near high-profile gas facilities and ensuring safe practices are used.
Inspecting exposed gas facilities for damage.
