About The Position

Assists in the administration of standardized testing (PSAT, SAT, ACT, Cambridge Assessment, and Advanced Placement) for the student body. Possible academic department exams throughout the year also.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain collegial relationships.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate respect for diversity of identities and experiences, an orientation toward equity and inclusion, and cultural competency in all aspects of Academy life.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students by building trust and credibility.

  • A strict adherence to confidential policies is required.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting technology during test administration, emailing, and participating in virtual meetings.
  • Ability to keep pace with changing technology.
  • Willingness and ability to learn additional applications as needed.
  • High degree of organizational skills with the ability to be flexible and multi-task with accuracy.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions, maintain a professional demeanor and restraint at all times, including stressful situations.
  • Successfully complete a criminal background check (reviewed every 5 years).
  • Proctors are not allowed to have any conflicts of interest which include, but are not limited to, being an athletic coach at any level, or having any member of your household taking an exam at any point in the school year.

Nice To Haves

  • College coursework preferred.
  • Persons who are teachers (including AP Teachers) may proctor exams only in the subject areas they do not teach.

Responsibilities

  • Stay updated and informed on all aspects of exam administration as per the College Board, ACT and Cambridge Assessment test coordinator/proctor guidelines.
  • Be proficient in test administration regarding Hybrid, paper based, and fully digital tests.
  • Read all general and subject-specific exam administration instructions.
  • Prepare the exam rooms.
  • Set up exam equipment (CD players, computers, hand-held digital recorders and other technological devices).
  • Familiarize with equipment for tests that require special equipment.
  • Assist students with technology during the exam.
  • Competently implement approved accommodations.
  • Bring all necessary materials to the exam room.
  • Admit and seat students.
  • Check identification of homeschooled students and/or students from other schools.
  • Distribute testing materials for both paper and digital exams or for College Board.
  • Supervise the testing room.
  • Walk around the room to ensure students are working on the correct exam section.
  • Guard against attempts at cheating.
  • Keep the room attended at all times.
  • Ensure that the proper seating distance is maintained between students.
  • Make sure all students have internet connection for digital exams and power for their laptop computers.
  • Assist students who have issues with their digital exams, including connection and laptop issues.
  • Collect and account for all exam materials.
  • Ensure that students do not take exam materials from the exam room.
  • Return exam materials to locked storage.
  • For digital exams, make sure that all students successfully uploaded their exam to testing agency, and that all tasks have been completed in the Test Day Toolkit.
