About The Position

Instructs and educates Standardized Patients (SPs) to accurately portray patients, assess medical campus trainees during standardized patient encounters, and provide constructive feedback. Manages all logistics for SP education, training, and quality assurance. Collaborates with course directors to improve and expand existing SP encounters for on-campus and off-site locations, including training, session management, materials, case design, and assessment tools. Assists the SP Program Manager and Director of the Immersive Learning Centers (DILC) in program development and expansion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communication, Film/Theater, or similar field.

Responsibilities

  • Education and instruction of SPs for the School of Medicine and other stakeholders.
  • Orientation of new SPs and educational activities for all SPs, including teaching accurate case portrayal and effective feedback delivery.
  • Assessing SPs for accurate case portrayals, learner skill assessment, and constructive feedback by observing sessions live and recorded.
  • Ensuring SP remediation or re-training as needed for standardization.
  • Collaborating with faculty to develop, design, and implement training sessions tailored to specific curricular goals.
  • Maintaining a database of all SPs, including trainings, monitoring, feedback, and evaluations.
  • Assisting the SP Program Manager in developing a feedback/evaluation program for each SP.
  • Coordinating SP selection, including interviewing, hiring, training, and identifying staffing requirements.
  • Providing feedback on SP performances, including communication assessments and feedback-giving skills.
  • Developing and assisting with gynecologic and urologic teaching associates' performances by creating educational materials and providing performance feedback.
  • Assisting with running SP events, including managing technical aspects like audiovisual media software, troubleshooting computers and cameras, ensuring materials and equipment are in exam rooms, completing technical/AV mock runs, operating exam system software, adjusting cameras, timing exams, and making announcements.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
