About The Position

Performs as a medical actor for educating learners at the Mayo Clinic Multidisciplinary Simulation Center. This role involves portraying various characters, including patients, family members, and medical personnel, in both inpatient and outpatient scenarios for educational and testing purposes. The position may require participation in surgical, ICU, or ER settings. Depending on the course, feedback may be provided to learners, and the individual may be videotaped for educational and testing situations, or asked to appear in educational videos. Visa sponsorship is not available, and Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Requirements

  • Must meet certain clinical demographic specifications depending on case needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of offering realistic character portrayals.
  • Receptive to direction and able to effectively implement adjustments.
  • Capable of working well within a team.
  • Individuals capable of portraying the role of a person between ages 16-35 years old may be required in specific scenarios.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous acting experience helpful.
  • Medical background, including working in PACU or ICU may be required for specific cases.
  • Ability to fluently speak a second language, especially Somali, Arabic or Spanish is a benefit for specific scenarios.
  • Improvisational and memorization skills beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance skills as a Standardized Patient.
