About The Position

The Standard Products Technician Will Service portables fire extinguishers and Kitchen systems. This role involves inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and servicing various fire safety and suppression systems, including portable fire extinguishers, pre-engineered kitchen suppression systems, and emergency lighting systems. The technician will also be responsible for performing electrical, piping, and mechanical work, accurately measuring and calculating specifications, and completing required manufacturer certifications. Additionally, the role requires supporting the sale of new emergency exit lighting units and performing hazard analyses of customer facilities.

Requirements

• Ability to perform hazard analyses of customer facilities to determine fire protection needs.
• Ability to utilize code books, manuals, and other technical resources.
• Strong attention to detail with accurate documentation and recordkeeping.
• Professional communication and interaction with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
• Proficiency in using hand tools and measuring devices, including tape measures.
• Ability to drive a vehicle for extended periods on a regular basis.
• Ability to work at heights, on ladders, and in confined or enclosed spaces.
• Physical capability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials (50 lbs. or more).
• Ability to frequently bend, twist, and move throughout the workday.
• Ability to walk long distances repeatedly.
• Ability to work in adverse conditions.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in a variety of environments.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, repair, service, and recharge hand-portable, wheeled, and stationary fire extinguisher units.
• Learn the proper use and application of all types of portable fire extinguishers.
• Successfully complete required manufacturer certification(s) for portable fire extinguishers.
• Inspect, maintain, repair, and service pre-engineered kitchen suppression systems.
• Install and perform maintenance on kitchen suppression systems from various manufacturers.
• Perform electrical, piping, and mechanical work related to kitchen suppression system installation and service.
• Accurately measure and calculate dimensions and specifications required for kitchen suppression system design.
• Successfully complete required manufacturer certification(s) for pre-engineered kitchen systems.
• Inspect, test, and verify the operation and placement of emergency lighting systems.
• Replace bulbs and batteries in emergency lighting systems as needed.
• Support the sale of new emergency exit lighting units.
• Perform hazard analyses of customer facilities to determine fire protection needs.
• Utilize code books, manuals, and other technical resources.
• Accurately document and maintain records.
• Professionally communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
