About The Position

Economy Wholesale Grocers is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Stand Up Forklift Operator. This full-time position involves picking, packing, and shipping supplies and merchandise to local and international customers accurately and in a timely manner. The role also includes efficiently and safely transporting, sorting, and stocking merchandise. We are a family-run business with a long history and a commitment to the communities we serve, aiming for further expansion.

Requirements

• One year of related experience or equivalent.
• Familiarity with shipping practices and handling methods.
• Current Forklift Certification for stand-up forklift 3500 lbs.
• High School graduate or GED.
• Commitment to excellence and high standards.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities.
• Acute attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain high scanning accuracy.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport incoming and outgoing merchandise to designated areas using appropriate tools/vehicles, including a handheld device, forklift, and/or electric pallet jack.
• Perform quality inspections on incoming and outgoing merchandise.
• Ensure merchandise is recorded correctly.
• Safely sort and place merchandise on racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined inventory procedures.
• Replenish merchandise from reserves as needed.
• Accurately pick and pack customer orders.
• Remove damaged merchandise and place it in its designated area.
• Maintain proper rotation of merchandise.
• Prioritize safety, including pedestrian traffic and forklift operation.
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as a Safety Belt and High Visibility Vest.
• Maintain a safe, clean working environment, including a clean dock and clean aisles.
• Participate in quality improvement efforts.
• Perform required administrative tasks, including preparing reports and correspondence.
• Assist customers as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
