About The Position

New York Air Brake is seeking a Stainless TIG Welder for an on-site, first-shift position in Springfield, Missouri. The Welder fits, fabricates, and welds parts for assembly, using diagrams, blueprints, or instructions. The role also operates fabrication equipment and tools, checks whether parts are serviceable, and follows procedures throughout the fitting and welding process. This position has no supervisory responsibilities and reports to the Production Manager. The work takes place on a shop floor, where employees may encounter noise, heat, cold, and dust or dirt. The role involves regular standing, walking, sitting, hand use, and reaching, as well as occasional lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One to two years of related experience.
• Proven TIG welding skills, including stainless steel.
• Proven welding skills with GMAW, FCAW, and/or GTAW processes.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
• Knowledge of generally accepted best practices and theory.
• Good mechanical skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of shop measuring devices.
• Basic knowledge of quantitative methods, statistical procedures, and graphic skills.
• Communication proficiency, organizational skills, and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Fit, fabricate, and weld parts for assembly.
• Use diagrams, blueprints, or instructions to fit, tack, and weld products.
• Operate a press brake, punch brake, and other fabricating equipment.
• Identify serviceable and non-serviceable parts during assembly.
• Follow procedural guidelines during fitting and welding.
• Use power and manual tools, calibrated gauges, and power and manual torquing devices properly.
• Perform other job-related duties and follow job-related instructions as requested by the supervisor.
