About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This role is primarily responsible for adjusting and maintaining staff work schedules. The Staffing Coordinator must be self-directed with a high level of accountability and minimal supervision. They will utilize each department's staffing policy for decision-making in scheduling appropriate levels of patient/resident care providers, determine scheduling for staff based on requests, and negotiate staffing needs with leaders and/or directors. The role also involves anticipating immediate and future staffing needs and working to resolve these staffing problems by broadcasting to staff, utilizing PRN staff, or reallocating existing staff. The coordinator will be expected to track, document, and report staffing data to directors for analysis. Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential for working with employees, leads, and department directors. The ideal candidate will be well-organized, highly self-motivated, independent, and flexible in adjusting schedules. Proficiency in computer applications for email, scheduling, and Excel is required. The ability to work with multiple interruptions, under stress, and with large interactive groups requesting scheduling is also necessary.

Requirements

  • Post secondary education or equivalent training in a health care or business related field is required.
  • Must have strong communication and negotiation skills to work with employees, leads, and department directors.
  • Must be well organized, have high degree of self-motivation and independence and be flexible when needed to adjust schedules.
  • Must use computer applications for email, scheduling, and excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Previous experience working with people or staffing issues desirable.

Responsibilities
