About The Position

Maine Veterans’ Homes is looking for a detail-oriented Staffing Coordinator to join our nursing team. In this role, you’ll play an important part in ensuring our nursing department has the staffing coverage needed each day to provide quality care to the Veterans we serve. The Staffing Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining nursing schedules, coordinating daily staffing needs, managing callouts and replacements, and supporting accurate payroll and timekeeping. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn and use scheduling and payroll systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow facility policies and state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing staffing needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Current CNA certification is preferred.
  • Customer service or scheduling experience.
  • Experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain the monthly nursing schedule and daily staffing sheets.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels in accordance with state and federal regulations and facility staffing patterns.
  • Schedule employees according to their hired hours and applicable child labor standards.
  • Monitor compliance with per diem requirements and notify nursing leadership and Human Resources of concerns.
  • Manage Earned Benefit Time (EBT) requests as approved by the Director of Nursing (DoN) or Assistant Director of Nursing (ADoN) and enter approved EBT hours into the payroll system.
  • Receive staff callouts and coordinate replacements as needed to maintain appropriate staffing coverage.
  • Compare employee worked hours with scheduled hours and submit corrected timecards to Payroll as needed.
  • Use computer programs including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Time and Attendance.
