About The Position

The Staffing Coordinator is responsible for the scheduling and staffing of the nursing department, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs. This role works closely with the Nursing Office and Administrator to ensure the facility is staffed in accordance with all state and federal guidelines daily. The position also handles new hire orientation and appropriate paperwork completion.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a high school diploma.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • A general understanding of the daily operations of a skilled nursing facility.
  • The ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Physical and skin test prior to employment.
  • Must show evidence of good health and be free of communicable disease.
  • Must have adequate vision and hearing.
  • Annual physical and skin test required.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend and stretch.
  • Standing and walking most of the day.

Responsibilities

  • Bi-weekly scheduling for Nurses and CNAs for Geriatric and Pediatric units to be submitted to the Director of Nursing for approval.
  • Assist staff with requests for personal time off/emergency time off and scheduling that will not conflict with facility day-to-day operations.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels and adjust staffing in accordance with facility census.
  • Maintain daily staffing sheets based on the master schedule and update the master schedule with call-offs and changes in staffing needs.
  • Responsible for finding replacements for nursing staff call-offs while on duty.
  • Assist the nursing supervisor on an on-call basis to find replacements for crisis situations.
  • Calculate HPPD numbers in accordance with state regulation and maintain records for facility inspections.
  • Submit daily records to the Administrator and Director of Nursing, and fax to NuVision Management.
  • Maintain individual nursing staff attendance sheets with call-offs and leaves of absence.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with the hiring of new employees, including interviews.
  • Set up new personnel files and submit information to bookkeeping for processing and files to DON.
  • Maintain and track employee evaluations (90 days and yearly) and submit them to the nursing supervisor for completion.
  • Monitor and inform the nursing office and staff of the need for yearly physicals.
  • Bi-weekly payroll processing.
  • Check nursing staff timesheets for accuracy and submit them to bookkeeping in a timely manner.
  • Monitor staff for attendance, counsel for absenteeism/tardiness.
  • Assist the nursing office with clerical tasks, filing, or other duties that do not require a state license or certificate.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Additional duties may be given by the Director of Nursing or by the facility Administrator.
