The Staff Scheduler is responsible for assisting with staff scheduling of the Nursing Department. Assist with coordinating an effective schedule under the supervision of the Director of Nursing. Works directly with nursing supervisors on shift-specific nursing care hour needs. Central Supply orders and maintains stock for the nursing department, keeping par levels of stock on the shelf for immediate need.

Requirements

  • CNA license preferred.
  • Previous experience scheduling/central supply.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules all nursing staff and prepares a weekly nursing schedule.
  • Notifies staff of schedule and necessary schedule changes.
  • Receives incoming calls and directs appropriately in order to address nursing scheduling issues.
  • Notify the Nursing Administration when there is a lack of appropriate staff availability or staff conflict regarding the schedule.
  • Obtains permission from the Director of Nursing/Administrator prior to scheduling overtime or nursing registry personnel.
  • Adjusts schedules as needed to accommodate changes, i.e., illness, vacation, PTO days, etc.
  • Collaborates with Nursing Administration daily to ensure adequate and appropriate staff is allocated.
  • Assists the nursing office with clinical management tasks as needed.
  • Assists payroll manager with processing the weekly payroll and the appropriate nursing hours.
  • Check supply areas daily and stocks with required items.
  • Fill requisitions from the nursing department for routine supplies and equipment in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the facility has adequate emergency supplies.
  • Maintain supply and storage rooms in an organized, clean, and safe condition in compliance with applicable local, state, or federal regulations.
  • Ensure inventory is updated as required when receiving/issuing supplies and equipment.
  • Rotates supplies to avoid loss of expired items.
