The Staffing Clerk position serves as a resource for two primary functions: staffing and scheduling. The staffing clerk supports patient care service areas by providing an overview of staffing needs and available resources within the Department of Nursing on a shift-to-shift basis. They also allocate available staffing resources by reviewing staffing recommendations reports. Further, they assist in orienting nurse managers, nursing supervisors, and RN staff to staffing practices. In addition, they serve as a scheduling resource in consultation with the supervisor staffing office and nurse managers to analyze workload and recommend a scheduling/staffing plan for the area. They develop base schedules and create and maintain posted employee schedules. The role works closely with HR regarding all open, vacant, and filled positions within the Department of Nursing. The position requires carrying out all aspects of the job using appropriate problem-solving skills and assuming responsibility for self-development within the role.
