About The Position

The Staffing Assistant provides operational and administrative support to Clinical Resources and is responsible for coordinating staffing coverage across nursing units. The Staffing Assistant collaborates with unit Charge Nurses to assess staffing needs and assigns pool, Specialty Staffing Team, and unit based team members to areas requiring coverage. This role manages sensitive staffing and workforce information and maintains confidentiality at all times. All duties are performed in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• A minimum of two years of clerical or administrative support experience is required.
• Computer literacy, including the ability to use scheduling and staffing systems, is required.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism is required.

Responsibilities

• Identify the staffing needs of various nursing units.
• Use computerized staffing systems to look up, enter, and adjust team member schedules to meet staffing requirements.
• Contact the Service Response Center (SRC) for repairs and environmental requests and track completion through audit logs.
• Perform customer service activities including guest relations, telephone etiquette, and greeting of customers.
• Receive, triage, and relay messages to Charge Nurses, Clinical Administrators, liaisons, and nurse managers, ensuring timely follow‑up.
• Maintain awareness of new and pertinent information through meetings, communication boards, memos, and log books.
• Use staffing matrices to assess unit needs based on reported patient volume.
• Review available resources to determine appropriate assignment of team members across nursing units.
