About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Staff Water Engineer to join and grow our Water team in Clifton Park, NY. This role will leverage expertise and technical knowledge to deliver design work for water/wastewater clients in New York and across North America. The position involves evaluating, planning, designing, and supporting the management of projects for water/wastewater treatment and conveyance systems. Responsibilities include exercising judgment on project details, making preliminary selections of engineering alternatives, and completing technical reports with guidance from senior team members. Occasional fieldwork may be required, including site visits, construction inspection, sampling, water quality analyses, asset inventory, flow monitoring, technology evaluations, and process troubleshooting. Support for professional engineering services during construction, such as construction observation, submittal reviews, RFI responses, and permit closeouts, is also expected. The role involves managing tasks as a project resource, meeting budget, timeframe, and quality objectives, and exceeding client expectations. Additionally, the engineer will conduct investigations and analyses to support technical solutions and prepare accurate documentation compliant with Arcadis requirements and national standards. Collaboration within interdisciplinary teams, communication with project managers and clients, and providing technical guidance to other team members are key aspects of this position.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of engineering
Valid driver's license with the ability to commute to project sites.
4 years’ of experience in engineering
EIT Certification
Detail oriented with knowledge of relevant national standards and codes of practice
Ability to provide technical guidance.
Advanced research, data gathering, technical writing and analysis skills
Work independently.
Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, time management and communication skills

Responsibilities

Evaluate, plan, design and support management of projects for water / wastewater treatment and conveyance (pipelines, treatment, and pumping facilities).
Exercise judgment on details of work and make preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
Complete technical reports with guidance from more senior team members.
Carry out occasional fieldwork activities such as site visits, construction inspection, sampling, water quality analyses, asset inventory, flow monitoring set-up and monitoring, technology evaluations, and plant operations information, process troubleshooting and optimization.
Support professional engineering services during construction: construction observation, review of submittals and shop drawings, responses to request for information (RFIs) and permit closeouts.
Manage tasks as a project resource, completing allocated activities to meet budget, timeframe and quality objectives and meeting or exceeding client expectations.
Carry out investigations and analyses to support the development of technical solutions.
Prepare documentation and reports ensuring accuracy and compliance with Arcadis requirements and relevant national standards and codes of practice.
Work in an interdisciplinary team to liaise with project managers/team leaders and clients to ensure effective communication on project matters.
Contribute to the resolution of technical issues on projects and provide technical guidance to other team members.
Collaborate with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design or solution.
