We are searching for a Staff Water Engineer to support and grow our Water team in Syracuse, NY. This candidate will use their expertise and technical knowledge to deliver design work for water/wastewater clients in New York and across North America. The candidate for this position must have a valid US driver's license, as it will be necessary to drive to field sites as needed. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of engineering
  • 3 years’ of experience in engineering
  • EIT Certification
  • Valid US driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, plan, design, and support the management of projects for water/wastewater treatment and conveyance (pipelines, treatment, and pumping facilities).
  • Exercise judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Complete technical and report writing with guidance from more senior team members.
  • Perform fieldwork activities such as site visits, construction inspection, sampling, water quality analyses, asset inventory, flow monitoring set-up and monitoring, technology evaluations, and plant operations information, process troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Support professional engineering services during construction, including construction observation, review of shop drawings, responses to requests for information (RFIs), and permit closeouts.
  • Manage tasks as a project resource, completing allocated activities to meet budget, timeframe, and quality objectives, and meeting or exceeding client expectations.
  • Carry out investigations and analyses to support the development of technical solutions.
  • Prepare documentation and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Arcadis requirements and relevant national standards and codes of practice.
  • Liaise with Project Managers/Team Leaders and clients to ensure effective communication on project matters.
  • Contribute to the resolution of technical issues on projects and provide technical guidance to other team members.
  • Collaborate with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design or solution.
  • Review completed engineering work to ensure it meets specified standards.
  • Further develop understanding of the services delivered by Arcadis, of the client’s business, and the industry sector to facilitate personal networking and to develop personal credibility in the industry.
