About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Staff Water Engineer to join and expand their Water team in Syracuse, NY. This role involves utilizing expertise and technical knowledge to design water/wastewater projects for clients in New York and across North America. A valid US driver's license is required for necessary site visits. The company is dedicated to protecting natural environments and water resources while powering the world for future generations, addressing challenges posed by climate change, urbanization, and biodiversity loss.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of engineering
  • 3 years’ of experience in engineering
  • EIT Certification
  • Valid US driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, plan, design, and support the management of projects for water/wastewater treatment and conveyance (pipelines, treatment, and pumping facilities).
  • Exercise judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Complete technical and report writing with guidance from more senior team members.
  • Perform fieldwork activities such as site visits, construction inspection, sampling, water quality analyses, asset inventory, flow monitoring set-up and monitoring, technology evaluations, and plant operations information, process troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Support professional engineering services during construction, including construction observation, review of shop drawings, responses to requests for information (RFIs), and permit closeouts.
  • Manage tasks as a project resource, completing allocated activities to meet budget, timeframe, and quality objectives, and meeting or exceeding client expectations.
  • Carry out investigations and analyses to support the development of technical solutions.
  • Prepare documentation and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Arcadis requirements and relevant national standards and codes of practice.
  • Liaise with Project Managers/Team Leaders and clients to ensure effective communication on project matters.
  • Contribute to the resolution of technical issues on projects and provide technical guidance to other team members.
  • Collaborate with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design or solution.
  • Review completed engineering work to ensure it meets specified standards.
  • Further develop understanding of the services delivered by Arcadis, of the client’s business, and the industry sector to facilitate personal networking and to develop personal credibility in the industry.
