As a next-generation consulting leader, WSC meets clients where they are, providing insight and redefining possibilities through a high standard of hands-on service, innovation, quality, and visionary leadership. We are seeking a Staff Engineer to collaborate with designers, planners, project managers, strategic communicators, and technical leaders on vital water, wastewater, and recycled water infrastructure projects. Under the mentorship of senior engineers, planners, and project managers, you will gain hands-on experience across a variety of challenging and exciting planning, design, and optimization projects.This position is hybrid and can be based out of one of our Southern California Offices in San Diego, Ontario, and Laguna Hills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field; Master’s degree preferred or enrollment in a Master’s program.
  • Experience delivering successful and collaborative project performance that achieves clients’ goals, including cost-effective, sustainable, energy-efficient, operator-friendly, and innovative valuable outcomes.
  • Demonstration of understanding and defining project goals and requirements.
  • Team first mindset. You enjoy collaborating, learning from, and teaching others, and are active in creating a positive team dynamic.
  • Active participant in related professional associations, preferred, and knowledge of the latest industry trends.
  • Desire to operate with freedom and accountability. A willingness to take risks and ownership of those risks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience writing proposals and presentations, technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous project documents.
  • Project workshop leadership, facilitation of alternatives analysis evaluation and decision making.
  • Ability to serve as a dedicated and effective client service partner and demonstrate responsiveness, clear communication, quality delivery, mindful listening, and problem-solving skills.
  • 3-5 years minimum experience required.
  • E.I.T. registration or the ability to obtain registration within one year. P.E. registration or ability to obtain within one year is a plus.
  • Passionate about mentoring and advocating within our team.

Nice To Haves

  • Development of sustainable solutions and alternative project delivery methods a plus.
  • AutoDesk Civil 3D or BIM/Revit design experience is a plus.
  • P.E. registration or ability to obtain within one year is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • You will be a part of multi-disciplinary teams that plan, design, and optimize water infrastructure.
  • You will support water, wastewater and/or recycled water design and planning projects, including development of scope, budget, and schedule.
  • You will serve in a Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, and/or Project Engineer role based on your level of experience.
  • This position will be based out of one of our Southern California locations in Ontario, San Diego, or Laguna Hills with a flexible hybrid work option. This position may require some travel throughout California, Oregon, and Washington.
