About The Position
The Staff Therapist - OT will provide occupational therapy services to pediatric patients at The Shriners Hospital for Children, focusing on improving their functional independence and participation in daily activities.
Requirements
- 5 years pediatric occupational therapy experience
- Specialty certification
- Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy
- Licensed in state of practice
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates mentorship behaviors in practice settings, in the community and within the profession.
- Functions as a subject matter expert and role model within the team, promoting a positive, organized, compliant and safe work environment based on open communication.
- Responsible for supervision of the clinical education for students and the training and oversight of the non-professional staff members.
- Participates in orientation and education of new employees.
- Ensures that competencies are completed appropriately across discipline.
- Participates in program development and departmental responsibilities as assigned.
- Identifies staff concerns and shares with the director as needed.
- Maintains competence to plan, implement, evaluate and modify clinical programs and interventions to ensure evidence-based practice within the discipline.
- Provides patient care as needed.
- Serves as a peer mentor through collaboration and recommendations to enhance treatment decisions as appropriate.
