The Staff Therapist - OT will provide occupational therapy services to pediatric patients at The Shriners Hospital for Children, focusing on improving their functional independence and participation in daily activities.

Requirements

  • 5 years pediatric occupational therapy experience
  • Specialty certification
  • Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Licensed in state of practice

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates mentorship behaviors in practice settings, in the community and within the profession.
  • Functions as a subject matter expert and role model within the team, promoting a positive, organized, compliant and safe work environment based on open communication.
  • Responsible for supervision of the clinical education for students and the training and oversight of the non-professional staff members.
  • Participates in orientation and education of new employees. Ensures that competencies are completed appropriately across discipline.
  • Participates in program development and departmental responsibilities as assigned.
  • Identifies staff concerns and shares with the director as needed.
  • Maintains competence to plan, implement, evaluate and modify clinical programs and interventions to ensure evidence-based practice within the discipline. Provides patient care as needed.
  • Serves as a peer mentor through collaboration and recommendations to enhance treatment decisions as appropriate.
