About The Position

VIZIO is a pioneer in software and OS development for Smart TVs, and is actively seeking a Staff Technical Program Manager. This role requires an individual who is smart, pays attention to detail, and possesses strong critical thinking skills to manage the delivery of the software development process and define the product roadmap. This is a proactive and forward-thinking senior-level technical program manager position focused on enhancing existing operations and platform projects. In this hands-on capacity, the manager will oversee the implementation efforts of operations platforms, monitoring and leading engineering teams to ensure milestones and deadlines are met. The position involves driving multi-functional efforts across major technical fields including Software (SW), Hardware (HW), Product, and Quality Assurance (QA). The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the future of retail and improving millions of lives globally within the Walmart ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Driving multi-functional efforts across major technical fields: SW, HW, Product, and QA
  • Excellent in communication, writing and self-starter
  • Solid knowledge of software engineering standard methodologies and related dependencies
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to inspire team members
  • Solid understanding of SDLC
  • Solid understanding of Agile, Scrum, Waterfall and Kanban development methodologies
  • Good understanding of OS systems, media, and system architecture
  • Sound understanding of UX and UI development
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with many different personality types
  • 8+ years demonstrated ability with both engineering development and project/program management
  • Bachelor's degree in computer sciences, Information Systems, or similar
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment
  • Excellent planning, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent with project management tools and capacity planning
  • Solid experience with JIRA & Confluence
  • Solid experience and comfortable partnering with engineering teams throughout feature development from architecture, design, implementation, and validation
  • Own roadmap, priorities, prioritization, and timelines for technologies
  • Solid understanding of code repositories (Github/BitBucket) and build process
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area (Minimum Qualification Option 1)
  • 7 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area (Minimum Qualification Option 2)

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Project Management
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, with specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, information systems, or related area and 3 years’ experience in product design
  • Knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining Walmart in creating accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture

Responsibilities

  • Help manage implementation efforts of our operations platforms, monitoring and leading engineering teams to ensure milestones and deadlines are met
  • Run and lead engineering team to deliver products and solutions for sophisticated embedded systems
  • Provide outstanding leadership to program team to deliver projects/programs timely, with high quality while achieving excellent results
  • Perform overall program-level planning & lead program execution of interdependent projects, and drive effective and accurate status reporting
  • Be responsible for the identification of risks and issues, and development of risk mitigation strategies and associated processes
  • Identify critical partners and required engagement model and handle effective decision- making with leadership/engineering teams
  • Supervise overall roadmap, identify and report potential obstacles such as scope creep, resource and personnel shortfalls, and problems with schedule, and release delays
  • Communicate with related parties with software engineers, product managers, and development teams
  • Conduct data analysis to deliver insights for Engineering Managers
  • Identifying risks, developing mitigation strategies, and facilitating resolutions
  • Proactively identify, prioritize, and drive resolution to program issues
  • Help the team with ongoing improvements to the program management processes
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Marketing teams
