About The Position

Scout Motors is hiring a Staff Technical Product Manager for its Utilities & Tools team, which builds scalable digital products that support business units and product teams across the company. This hands-on individual contributor will own a portfolio of internal platform products for managing fleets, individual vehicles, locations, shared operational resources, and the access model governing their use. The portfolio includes both greenfield product development and existing internal tools. The role reports to the Senior Manager of Digital Products and is fully remote within the United States, with occasional in-person meetings and travel for company events. The Product Manager will define how operational resources are represented, assigned, tracked, governed, and used across Scout. This includes developing workflows, data models, business rules, and integrations that help internal teams understand what resources exist, where they are, who can use them, how they are assigned, and whether they are being fully utilized. The role will also define access capabilities for internal users, partners, and customers, ensuring resource use is governed, auditable, and aligned with business rules. The position partners with Engineering, Design, Security and Compliance, Legal, operations teams, and customer-facing stakeholders. It calls for strategic clarity, strong product judgment, and practical solutions that improve day-to-day operations, as well as the ability to influence architecture and product direction without direct authority and balance usability, governance, scalability, and delivery speed.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of product management experience.
  • A strong track record owning complex internal tools, enterprise SaaS products, operational platforms, or B2B systems used by multiple teams and stakeholder groups.
  • Depth in an operationally heavy domain such as fleet, logistics, supply chain, field service, inventory, or a similar area.
  • Working fluency with access models, including role- and attribute-based permissions, provisioning and deprovisioning, and audit trails.
  • Ability to make architectural tradeoffs, push back when warranted, and earn the trust of senior engineers.
  • Proven ability to align security, engineering, legal, operations, and commercial stakeholders around a direction without reporting authority over them.
  • Integrity, curiosity, resourcefulness, a positive attitude, and a growth mindset.
  • Comfort with change and flexibility in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, with a collaborative approach to achieving ambitious goals.
  • Ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel for company events from time to time.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with fleet operations, asset management, location-based operations, permissions, workflow tooling, or resource allocation systems.
  • Experience in regulated or compliance-sensitive environments.
  • Familiarity with identity protocols and platforms such as SAML, OIDC, SCIM, Okta, or Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Experience in SOC 2 or GDPR-regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture principles.
  • Familiarity with non-human identity patterns, including service accounts and scoped permissions for AI agents and automated services.
  • Automotive, manufacturing, or multi-site operations background.

Responsibilities

  • Own products that help internal teams track, manage, allocate, and use fleets, individual vehicles, locations, and other operational assets.
  • Define workflows, data models, business rules, and integrations for managing resources and their utilization.
  • Define and drive capabilities governing who can view, assign, access, or operate vehicles, locations, and other operational resources.
  • Build practical access models for internal users, partners, and customers that support governed, auditable resource use aligned with business rules.
  • Partner with Engineering, Design, Security and Compliance, Legal, operations teams, and customer-facing stakeholders.
  • Influence architecture and product direction, align teams around roadmap priorities, and make tradeoffs balancing operational usability, governance, scalability, and delivery speed.
  • Own a portfolio spanning greenfield product development and existing internal tools.

Benefits

  • Competitive medical, dental, vision, and income protection insurance plans.
  • 401(k) program with employer match and immediate vesting.
  • 20 days of planned PTO, as accrued.
  • 40 hours of unplanned PTO and 14 company or floating holidays annually.
  • Up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave for biological and adoptive parents of all genders.
  • Paid leave for bereavement, jury duty, voting time, or military leave.
  • Annual performance bonus program.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits intended to support physical, mental, and financial wellbeing.
