About The Position

The Staff Systems Engineer serves as the principal technical architect and engineering authority across the entire End User Support Operations Support (EUSOS) ecosystem. In this elite technical role, you will design, optimize, and secure the foundational enterprise deployment structures, endpoint management baselines, and cross-functional technology integrations that power over 15,000 distributed federal workers, patent examiners, and trademark specialists. You will operate at the intersection of long-term architectural strategy and high-tier escalation engineering. Rather than managing daily technician schedules, you will build the technical automation frameworks, author configuration profiles, and bridge critical gaps between Warehouse Lifecycle Operations, Network Operations & Maintenance, and Security Operations & Enterprise Monitoring branches.

Requirements

Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Basic understanding of professional sound systems, video projection, display systems, conferencing technologies, and control
Foundational knowledge of IP networking concepts.
Ability to collect device logs, perform firmware updates, and follow guided configuration steps.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to lift more than 50 lbs and support equipment movement.
Flexibility to travel to regional offices.

Nice To Haves

Ability to design, develop, and maintain customer integrated control solutions for complex audio-visual systems
Ability to test, troubleshoot, and debug complex audio, video, switching, and control system problems.
Ability to diagnose AMX, Biamp, Cisco, Crestron, and QSC control systems, implementation and testing for System Integration client projects.
Able to ensure operation of audiovisual equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements.
Contribute to design review and code review, as required.
Cisco Certification on Codec Equipment and A+ Certification Desired
Possess Crestron and QCS Q-SYS Designer programmer certifications. Desired

Responsibilities

Assist with the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of audio-visual equipment including sound systems, recording devices, video
Perform routine equipment checks, room readiness assessments, and preventative maintenance under the guidance of senior
Support device log collection, basic configuration checks, and firmware updates for collaboration systems.
Monitor alerts generated by AV and conferencing equipment (e.g., Cisco/Tandberg) and escalate anomalies.
Diagnose and resolve standard AV connectivity issues including cabling failures, HDMI/DVI problems, audio signal interruptions
Provide Tier 2 support for integrated AV systems such as AMX, Biamp, Cisco, Crestron, and QSC under supervision.
Assist senior engineers in root-cause analysis for recurring problems.
Support small-scale equipment upgrades, replacements, and device deployments.
Participate in collaboration room checks, monthly conference room reviews, and operational testing activities.
Help stage, test, and validate new AV or collaboration equipment before rollout.
Maintain accurate logs of work performed, troubleshooting steps, equipment status, and configuration changes.
Assist in creating or updating user guides, quick-reference materials, and SOPs.
Contribute feedback to senior engineers to refine processes.
Work closely with Network Operations, Security Operations, and Warehouse Lifecycle Operations.
Provide professional customer service when supporting staff needs.
Participate in team meetings, engineering discussions, and stand-ups.
Develop knowledge of audio file formats, media server systems, digital asset management, and streaming technologies.
Expand skills in IP-based network fundamentals and AV control systems.
Pursue relevant certifications as part of career progression.
