Staff Systems Engineer, Strategic Defense

Anduril•Colorado Springs, CO
•Onsite

About The Position

Anduril Industries is seeking a growth-minded Systems Engineer to join its Strategic Defense team in Colorado Springs, Colorado; Washington, DC; or Huntsville, Alabama. The role defines architecture and capabilities for next-generation integrated air and missile defense (IAMD) systems and their integration with space control, space-based missile warning, and tracking missions. It ensures requirements and architecture traceability through testing and evaluations that support fire-control certification, and translates operational needs from joint IAMD and space control communities into executable system architecture. The engineer will coordinate with internal programs and external customers, develop future architectures and capabilities, and produce systems-engineering artifacts based on stakeholder needs. The role leads requirements and architecture products with full traceability and configuration management across related fire-control programs, and owns architecture and interface definition for integrating Anduril fire-control capabilities across the IAMD kill chain. It also defines and manages System of Systems mission threads and interfaces connecting air and missile defense to space control, missile warning, and space domain awareness capabilities.

Requirements

  • Currently possess and be able to maintain an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
  • Bachelor of Science in aerospace, mechanical, applied physics, computer science, or a similar engineering or technical field, or more than 10 years of integrated air and missile defense experience.
  • At least 12 years of systems engineering experience across the life cycle.
  • Demonstrated domain experience across the IAMD kill chain, including sensors, battle management and C2, fire control, and effectors, with systems such as IBCS, Patriot, LTAMDS, THAAD, Aegis, Sentinel, or C2BMC.
  • Working knowledge of space control and space-based missile warning and tracking missions, and of the interfaces through which they support terrestrial air and missile defense.
  • Understanding of fire-control systems and required safety and hazard mitigation practices.
  • Experience developing model-based systems engineering artifacts, such as Operational Viewpoints, System Viewpoints, activity diagrams, use-case diagrams, BDDs, IBDs, and parametric diagrams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience modeling weapon systems, IAMD engagement sequences, and air and missile threat scenarios.
  • Demonstrated experience leading System of Systems capability development for complex kill chains.
  • Experience with test planning, execution, and data analysis for complex systems.
  • Experience supporting IAMD or space mission organizations such as USSPACECOM, Space Systems Command, SSDP, SDA, SMDC, Army RCCTO, Navy IWS, or AFLCMC.
  • Familiarity with joint data links and interoperability standards used across IAMD and space missions, including Link 16, JREAP, IBCS IFCN, and OMS/UCI.
  • Experience with joint engagement coordination and cross-domain kill-chain integration, including space-based sensor cueing and track correlation.
  • Proficiency with MathWorks products such as MATLAB and Simulink.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with internal programs and external customers across the joint IAMD and space mission communities.
  • Participate in concept generation and stakeholder coordination to develop future architecture and capabilities for strategic-defense kill chains.
  • Develop artifacts based on stakeholder needs and coordinate with functional areas to ensure they are complete and accurate.
  • Demonstrate contractual model artifacts at stakeholder meetings and events.
  • Lead and develop requirements and architecture products that provide full traceability, with configuration controlled and managed across related fire-control programs.
  • Own architecture and interface definition for integrating Anduril fire-control capabilities across IAMD sensors, battle management and command and control, fire control, and effectors.
  • Define and manage System of Systems mission threads and interfaces connecting air and missile defense systems to space control, missile warning, and space domain awareness capabilities, including space-based sensor cueing of terrestrial fire-control chains.
  • Create and maintain systems-engineering artifacts to develop an understanding of Anduril platforms, autonomy, simulation, and perception products.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Comprehensive, competitive benefits package available at little to no cost to employees.
