About The Position

Lucid Motors is seeking a Staff Supplier Industrialization Engineer, Exterior Trim to join their growing team. This role is crucial for enabling the industrialization of innovative products within aggressive timelines. The engineer will collaborate with internal teams (Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, NPI, Material Planning) and external suppliers to develop solutions for challenging exterior designs, ensuring robust supplier industrialization and adherence to quality requirements. The position involves upfront part design development and working with suppliers to create new manufacturing methods and control strategies for flawless launch execution.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of high-volume manufacturing experience in Interior Cockpit parts such as Instrument Panels, Center Consoles, Door Panels, Ambient Lighting, Cross Car Beams, Molded parts, performing roles in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Hands-on Supplier Industrialization, APQP, PPAP, and Program Management experience.
  • Excellent analytical abilities, technical writing ability, and comprehensive understanding of quality toolbox (IATF 16949, SPC, MSA, FMEA, DOE, GD&T, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and drawings and in-depth knowledge of quality standards and specifications in the commodities assigned.
  • Experience with tolerance analysis, mold flow, AAR approval.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelors degree in a related Engineering field.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification preferred - American Society for Quality, Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Manufacturing, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Smartsheets, JMP, Minitab, JIRA and Tableau is a plus.
  • Masters degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review, approve, and manage all supplier industrialization activities, including program timelines, tooling, capital and fixture construction, tooling trials, assembly readiness, and Run@Rate.
  • Develop, manage, and ensure robust implementation of the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) process with suppliers from initial design through PPAP submission and start of mass production.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to guide engineering development and supplier selection, awarding business to qualified suppliers that meet Lucid's requirements, expectations, and timelines.
  • Ensure supplier manufacturing and industrialization capabilities are considered in the part design phase and proper quality expectations are established and agreed upon.
  • Work with suppliers to develop new manufacturing techniques or processes to meet design requirements.
  • Develop quality plans, design test methods and gages, identify potential failure modes and process weaknesses, and drive preventative actions.
