Staff Strategic Field Application Engineer

Boston Dynamics•Waltham, MA
•$116,000 - $145,000•Onsite

About The Position

As a Staff Field Application Engineer (FAE) on Boston Dynamics’ Strategic FAE team, you will be the technical lead for our most strategic enterprise accounts, scaling our robotic solutions from a first site to fleets across global, multi-site operations. This role pairs deep technical expertise with business and Go-To-Market strategy: you are the link between program-level governance and on-the-ground execution, making sure every deployment delivers measurable operational value and opens the door to account growth. Working closely with Sales, Customer Success, Support, and Product R&D, you will turn what you learn in the field into the products and repeatable playbooks that let us scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 3+ years with a Master’s degree, in fast-paced technology integration, robotics, or complex systems engineering environment.
  • Proven track record of overseeing high-complexity technical deployments and managing the intersection of hardware, software, and operational workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to engineering teams, operators, and business stakeholders, ensuring alignment on project goals and impact.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven comfort in refining and optimizing processes to ensure global scalability and consistent performance across diverse sites.
  • Ability to leverage CAD for site planning, navigate enterprise networking (VLANs/VPNs) during setup, and utilize Python or C++ APIs to customize robotic solutions and collaborate with technical stakeholders.
  • Comfort navigating the ambiguity of early-stage product deployments and the ability to build structure where none exists.
  • The ability to recognize how a successful technical integration can unlock broader strategic impact and account expansion.
  • Familiarity with specialized workflows in sectors like large-scale manufacturing and logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Own the delivery strategy for scalable, multi-site robotics programs, from solution design, infrastructure, and network integration through global expansion planning.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for strategic accounts, building consultative partnerships across customer business units and aligning Sales, Customer Success, Support, and R&D around the customer’s long-term business strategy.
  • Own program-level Statements of Work (SOWs) that define scope, deliverables, and ownership, along with repeatable integration strategy playbooks that meet industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Connect robot data and workflows to customer systems such as CMMS, asset management, and analytics pipelines, and lead diagnosis, resolution, and performance optimization across hardware, software, and networking during deployment.
  • Define adoption strategies that build customer ownership of their robot programs, and implement frameworks to measure operational value and fleet utilization.
  • Lead early product testing with strategic customers, and turn field data and feedback into clear requirements that shape the Boston Dynamics product roadmap.
  • Guide other FAEs and integration teams, using patterns in field data to drive continuous improvement of the global integration roadmap.

Benefits

  • Direct access to our engineering labs and cross-functional teams.
