About The Position

Fivetran and dbt Labs are merging, creating a company focused on providing the data infrastructure layer for data movement, transformation, and trust. This role is for a Staff Solutions Engineer on the Enterprise Field Engineering team, partnering with sales to understand enterprise customer needs and demonstrate how Fivetran and dbt Labs can deliver business outcomes. The engineer will uncover technical requirements, design solutions, and manage a proof-of-value process to secure technical wins throughout the sales cycle. This is a full-time, remote position based in the Southeastern US (VA, NC, SC, GA, FL), requiring travel of 30% or more.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of Enterprise solutions engineering experience driving end-to-end technical sales cycle
  • Strong technical background, with hands-on experience in SQL, ELT, data modeling, analytics engineering,or software development
  • A firm understanding of a modern data warehousing architectures and the ability to discuss them credibly with technical audiences
  • Excellent verbal, written, and in-person communication skills, with the ability to discuss complex topics with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Bias for action - you move fast, ship early, and refine as you learn
  • A passion for being an inclusive teammate and involved member of the community

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of or prior experience with dbt
  • Networking and security knowledge relevant to enterprise deployments, such as private networking, VPC/PrivateLink, encryption, and data governance controls
  • Experiences designing and implementing solutions for enterprise agentic AI use cases (data, security, or infrastructure).

Responsibilities

  • Work with Enterprise customers to understand their business requirements, use cases, and develop prescriptive solutions recommendations
  • Develop and deliver value-based, technical solution demonstrations to enterprise audiences
  • Owning and drive structured proof-of-value process that secures the technical win
  • Work closely with Product, Support, Customer Success and Engineering teams to ensure alignment of our solutions to enterprise customer needs
  • Own the full customer lifecycle from pre-sale evaluation through product adoption and expansion
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers and key partners
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and trends in our industry
