Staff Software Product Manager

About The Position

As a Staff Software Product Manager, you'll drive product development across Article’s digital platforms, including eCommerce systems, internal business applications, and data platforms. This role requires a strong systems mindset and the ability to operate across multiple domains (i.e., you can see how everything connects), including customer-facing eCommerce platforms, internal operational systems, and the data platform that powers analytics and reporting. You'll partner closely with engineering teams, data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to define product strategy, prioritize initiatives, and deliver solutions that improve customer experience, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision making. Your job will be to look at the whole picture, analyze, and decide how to prioritize each initiative. You’ll be exposed to the whole business, less of a specialist and more of a generalist. Success in this role requires balancing business priorities, technical constraints, and cross-system dependencies while driving the delivery of complex initiatives across multiple teams.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software product management experience.
  • Must have worked in retail/eCommerce, ideally also knowing supply chain, or logistics (especially with enterprise software supporting these domains — strong asset).
  • Experience in organizations undergoing tech debt reduction, legacy system migration, or platform re-architecture (highly desirable).
  • Proven ability to own and drive roadmap strategy and definition: able to synthesize competing priorities — technical debt, feature requests, business needs — into a clear, actionable roadmap aligned with company goals.
  • Track record of successfully delivering complex, cross-functional programs with multiple stakeholders and high technical ambiguity.
  • Stakeholder management and influence; able to work with strong personalities, get alignment, negotiate trade-offs, and secure buy-in — often under pressure.
  • Experience working closely with engineering and operational teams.
  • Experience using Agile Scrum or Kanban methodologies.
  • Legally able to work in Canada.
  • Completion of criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Ideally also knowing supply chain, or logistics (especially with enterprise software supporting these domains — strong asset).

  • Architect product development for internal core business applications such as merchandising, logistics, customer service, finance, and supply chain workflows.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies, spearheading large-scale automation frameworks where applicable to optimize corporate margins and visibility.
  • Champion cross-functional operational roadmaps that unify disparate departmental workflows into centralized, high-efficiency software solutions.
  • Partner with Data Engineering and Analytics teams to establish the overarching vision for the company’s data platform.
  • Drive the product requirements for scalable data pipelines, advanced analytical data models, and predictive modeling capabilities.
  • Ensure business teams have access to reliable, well-structured data for reporting and strategic decision-making.
  • Manage product backlogs and prioritize initiatives based on business value, technical feasibility, and team capacity.
  • Lead roadmap planning alignment and build data-backed business cases for new initiatives.
  • Manage cross-project dependencies and trade-offs across multiple parallel engineering workstreams.

  • Accountable for the post-launch business outcomes of major platform overhauls, driving continuous optimization loops based on complex telemetry and user feedback.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business teams to gather complex requirements and ensure alignment on product priorities.
