About The Position

The Staff, Software Engineer plays a critical role in delivering scalable platform capabilities and driving the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. This position leads technical execution aligned with strategic roadmaps, applies cloud-native architecture principles, and integrates AI/ML components to enhance automation and product innovation. The role involves mentoring engineers, influencing architectural decisions, and collaborating across teams to ensure high-quality, maintainable solutions. A strong focus on continuous improvement, data-driven practices, and technical ownership supports the achievement of business objectives and engineering excellence. The Advertising Business Systems (ABS) team, part of the Advertising Technology group, delivers scalable platforms supporting Advertisers, Agencies, Partners, and Internal stakeholders. The team focuses on areas such as Lead Generation, CRM, Onboarding, Business Management, Media Planning, Order Management, Billing, Insights, Gen AI capabilities, and Third Party Tools. ABS builds intelligent solutions that streamline advertiser interactions and improve operational efficiency. By aligning technology with business goals, the team drives ad revenue growth and expands platform capabilities beyond Walmart Connect, fostering innovation and trusted partnerships within Walmart’s advertising ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in software development, including coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance within cloud-native architectures.
  • Strong proficiency in API design, software prototyping, and applying software design patterns to build scalable, modular, and maintainable solutions.
  • Expertise in platform engineering, including infrastructure, tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and automation to enhance engineering productivity.
  • Ability to integrate AI/ML components and develop intelligent automation features using languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or C++.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, mentoring skills, and effective collaboration across cross-functional teams.
  • Data-driven decision-making skills to define metrics, optimize processes, and ensure engineering excellence.
  • Adaptability to evolving technologies and commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
