About The Position
Renewed Vision is hiring a Staff Software Engineer focused on web applications and services that connect customers to its products, including accounts, commerce, licensing, entitlements, and customer-facing experiences. The role helps shape the technical direction of business-critical systems and improve engineering practices as technology evolves. The company values engineering fundamentals, adaptability, sound judgment, and selecting technologies based on product needs. Its current systems use PHP/Laravel and React, but its technology choices may evolve. This is a hands-on technical leadership role. The engineer will steward architecture and long-term system health, identify and lead high-impact improvements, and help other engineers become more effective. Renewed Vision describes its engineering workflow as AI-first, using tools across product direction, execution, agent-assisted development, and code review; the role is expected to lead by example while maintaining quality and accountability. The company is mostly remote, with its home office just outside Atlanta, Georgia. Familiarity with Renewed Vision products or live production is a meaningful advantage.
Requirements
- Experience shaping architecture and technical direction for significant production systems.
- Hands-on engineering experience, including extensive use of AI in engineering work and critical evaluation of AI output.
- Curiosity and adaptability, with the ability to learn new technologies, languages, and approaches without undue attachment to one technology.
- Strong backend, distributed-systems, and modern web application fundamentals.
- Pragmatic engineering judgment that balances speed, maintainability, security, and long-term system health.
- Technical leadership demonstrated through judgment, collaboration, and execution rather than formal authority.
- Motivation to create meaningful products, improve team workflows, and help other engineers succeed.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with Renewed Vision products or live-production workflows, including worship, broadcast, sports, or live events.
- Experience with PHP/Laravel, React, TypeScript, MySQL, Redis, AWS, Cloudflare, or comparable technologies.
- Experience with commerce, billing, identity, licensing, entitlements, or APIs serving desktop applications.
- Experience modernizing mature systems, improving developer workflows, or implementing AI-assisted development practices.
