About The Position

This role is responsible for supporting embedded software development for Insulet's medical devices throughout the entire software lifecycle, including design, development, testing, maintenance, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and adaptable engineer who takes ownership of team priorities, contributes across multiple areas, and works effectively in a regulated, cross-functional environment to deliver high-quality software solutions. We are looking for a collaborative and adaptable Staff Software Engineer to join the Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) team supporting Insulet's embedded software for medical products. This role contributes across the full software lifecycle—including design, implementation, testing, documentation, maintenance, and continuous improvement—in a regulated, multidisciplinary environment. Success in this role means taking ownership of the work needed by the team, whether that involves new feature development, defect resolution, design documentation, test support, or cross-functional integration. We value engineers who communicate openly, bring positive energy to the team, and approach every assignment as an opportunity to strengthen the product and help teammates succeed.

  • Hands-on experience with Embedded Systems
  • Experience developing embedded software for ARM, TI, MSP, or similar microcontroller-based systems is required
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively on a shared codebase and collaborate with internal and external team members

  • Knowledge of I2C, SPI, Flash, EEPROM and/or USB
  • Familiarity with communication systems and/or wireless protocols (BLE a plus)
  • Medical device or other regulated-industry experience

  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software and system issues spanning multiple components, disciplines, or product generations
  • Apply sound engineering judgment to evaluate technical tradeoffs, investigate root causes, and drive issues to resolution with minimal supervision
  • Ensure software designs and development activities comply with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements for medical devices.
  • Create and maintain design documentation, requirements, and test artifacts as a routine part of engineering work
  • Partner with Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to ensure solutions meet technical, regulatory, and business requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with software, software quality, and hardware engineers to integrate, debug, and test system functionality.
