About The Position

As a Staff Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving full lifecycle software development with a focus on cloud-native architecture and AI/ML integration. You will collaborate across teams to align technical solutions with business priorities, mentor engineering talent, and promote engineering excellence through rigorous design reviews and data-driven decision making. This role demands strong technical judgment, innovation, and adaptability to evolving technologies, ensuring high-quality, maintainable solutions that enhance developer productivity and support Walmart’s strategic objectives. About the team: The Global Security & Investigations Technology team develops scalable platforms that enable Walmart to anticipate and respond to security and operational risks. Utilizing AI-driven innovation and resilient engineering, the team supports investigators, security operators, and aviation units with advanced technology to enhance decision-making and automate workflows. The Global Governance team leads company-wide security applications, standards, and processes, delivering high-quality solutions through collaborative engineering. Team members contribute to design, development, and deployment while mentoring peers and partnering across functions to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence worldwide.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
  • Strong experience in software development lifecycle management, encompassing coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in API design, software prototyping, and applying software design patterns for secure, modular, and maintainable solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical design reviews and mentor engineering teams to foster continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Skilled in integrating AI/ML components and developing intelligent automation using languages such as Python, Node, Typescript and Java.
  • Data-driven decision-making skills to define metrics, optimize processes, and deliver high-quality platform capabilities.
  • Collaboration and communication skills to engage cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture of a unified Security Data & AI platform that integrates GSOC/CSOC, VMS, physical access, threat intelligence, and endpoint telemetry into a real-time security data mesh.
  • Design scalable streaming pipelines and lakehouse architectures for event correlation, governance, and analytics.
  • Build Agentic AI solutions using LLMs and RAG to automate SOC workflows, incident triage, enrichment, reporting, and playbook execution with human-in-the-loop controls.
  • Engineer the CSOC Campus Map by integrating badge systems, VMS, parking, and drone telemetry for real-time situational awareness.
  • Define the platform roadmap, drive engineering excellence, mentor teams, and promote API-first, secure, and highly observable platform design.
