About The Position

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving the full software development lifecycle from coding to deployment and maintenance. You will apply cloud-native architecture principles to enhance system resilience and agility while integrating AI/ML technologies to advance intelligent automation. This role requires technical leadership, mentorship, and collaboration across teams to ensure high-quality solutions aligned with business objectives. You will influence architectural decisions, promote engineering excellence, and continuously improve processes to support Walmart’s technology goals and operational success. About the team: The Sponsored Campaign Management Team develops scalable Java-based microservices to efficiently manage campaign attributes aligned with platform goals. The team emphasizes collaborative engineering, iterative development, and continuous testing to ensure high-quality software. Integrating AI components and applying object-oriented design principles, members drive innovation and effective problem-solving. Cross-functional collaboration supports delivering reliable, customer-focused solutions within a structured development lifecycle. Commitment to technical excellence, design reviews, and continuous learning enables the team to meet evolving business and platform objectives while fostering a culture of accountability and engineering rigor.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
  • Strong experience in software development lifecycle management, encompassing coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in API design, software prototyping, and applying software design patterns for secure, modular, and maintainable solutions.
  • Ability to lead technical design reviews and remedial actions to uphold quality and alignment with architectural standards.
  • Skilled in DevOps engineering practices to enhance developer productivity and platform capabilities.
  • Data-driven decision-making skills to define metrics and optimize engineering processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction for sustainable outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining in creating accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
  • Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
  • Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure quality and alignment with architectural standards.
  • Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components using multiple programming languages.
  • Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through best practices.
  • Collaborate across teams to define technical requirements and optimize development processes using data-driven methods.
