About The Position

CHG Healthcare is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our DMO Engineering team. The Engineering team designs, builds, and maintains the technology platforms and software solutions that power CHG's staffing and healthcare businesses. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader and mentor across the team, driving high-quality software delivery, architectural decisions, and engineering excellence in an AI-driven product development environment.

Requirements

  • Comfortable with ambiguity, high agency and systems thinking; business acumen and product judgment
  • Engineering Practices & Processes — apply SOLID design principles, Engineering Playbook, CI/CD best practices, and spec-driven development
  • AI-Competency — leverage AI tools across the full development lifecycle with critical judgment to evaluate and own AI-generated output
  • Technical Proficiency — fluency in the organization's languages, frameworks, databases, version control, CI/CD, containerization, and cloud platforms
  • Software Architecture & Design — apply mature design patterns and service-based architectures for high availability, resilience, performance, and security
  • Stakeholder Communication — communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with stakeholders on scope, approach, and business value
  • Extended use of AI tools — use AI to accelerate ramp-up and generate/maintain technical documentation
  • M.S. / B.S. in Computer Science or related STEM discipline
  • 8+ years of proven experience at Sr. Software Engineer level

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with languages and application frameworks as defined by the organization (JavaScript, Java, Salesforce/Apex, Node.js)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitHub Actions)
  • Experience with RESTful API design, service-based architectures, and data modeling

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain production software following SOLID architecture design, engineering best-practices, and defined development methodologies
  • Apply SOLID design principles consistently across build, review, and test to produce maintainable, high-quality software
  • Leverage AI tools across the full development lifecycle — spec generation, coding, and review — with the judgment to critically evaluate and own AI-generated output
  • Contribute to system architecture discussions and apply mature design patterns to build highly available, resilient, performant, and secure systems
  • Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring spec alignment
  • Collaborate with product and stakeholders across AI-driven product development, aligning on scope and business value
  • Use AI tools to accelerate ramp-up on new languages, frameworks, and platforms, and to generate and improve technical documentation
  • Identify and address technical debt that impedes team velocity and quality
  • Participate in technical refinements, breaking epics and stories into executable tasks targeting thin vertical slices
