About The Position
A venture-backed, commercial-stage medical device company is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to own real-time tracking and automation software in its clinical system. The concept is proven, and the role will take it through release. The engineer will develop real-time tracking, localization, and sensor fusion; build a low-latency C++ runtime with GPU acceleration; integrate robotic hardware and closed-loop automated positioning; design safety behavior; conduct accuracy testing for regulatory verification; and mentor engineers. The position is onsite in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Requirements
- 6+ years of expert modern C++ experience on production real-time systems.
- Strong Python skills.
- Depth in 3D computer vision, sensor fusion, robotics control, or machine learning for perception.
- Experience with calibration, registration, and coordinate frames.
- Experience owning a subsystem through release.
- Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, physics, or mathematics, or equivalent experience.
Nice To Haves
- Medical device software standards experience, including IEC 62304 and ISO 14971.
- Surgical navigation or robotics experience.
- CUDA or TensorRT experience.
Responsibilities
- Own real-time tracking, localization, and sensor fusion.

- Design safety behavior, including interlocks, overrides, and degraded modes.
