About The Position

Walmart is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. This role involves driving the full software lifecycle, applying cloud-native architecture principles, and ensuring high-quality system design. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate across functions to translate complex business needs into effective technical solutions. Requirements

Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
Strong hands-on development skills across multiple programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, and C++.
Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
Ability to conduct thorough system design reviews and apply software design patterns for secure, maintainable, and modular solutions.
Demonstrated capability in API design, software prototyping, and DevOps engineering to enhance platform productivity.
Skilled in data-driven decision making and driving engineering excellence through continuous improvement and error correction.
Effective collaborator with strong communication skills to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining Walmart in creating accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
Lead full software development lifecycle activities including coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components using multiple programming languages.
Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing.
Collaborate across teams to define technical requirements and optimize development processes using data-driven practices.
