About The Position

Stryker is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our Endoscopy division. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of complex software systems, including application architecture and product design documentation. You will apply deep expertise across multiple technological domains to evaluate and adopt new technologies and platforms. As a technical leader, you will mentor engineers and collaborate closely with cross‑functional peers to deliver market‑leading software solutions that meet customer and system requirements. You will follow established design practices, including Agile methodologies, and apply sound software engineering principles to ensure products are safe, reliable, and user‑friendly. Workplace flexibility : Candidate must reside within a commutable distance to either San Jose, CA or Flower Mound, TX but is expected to be onsite at the facility multiple times per week. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including practical experience integrating software with hardware components.
  • Strong hands-on experience developing Windows-based applications using C# and .NET, with proficiency in Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and Windows Services.
  • Experience designing, developing, and integrating at least one of the following Application Programming Interfaces (APIs): Representational State Transfer (REST), Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), or Remote Procedure Calls (gRPC).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Ethernet and IP networking, including Audio‑Visual (AV)‑over‑ Internet Protocol (IP) protocols (TCP/UDP, multicast, QoS, VLANs, NDI, SDVoE), supported by networking certifications such as CCNA or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Field‑Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) (e.g., for HDMI routing or signal timing).
  • Proficiency in C++, with experience applying object-oriented principles and design patterns in real-world applications.
  • Experienced in research and development of Video and Communication system/workflow design including experience with routing video/audio signals using Software.
  • Experience with documented software development processes or familiarity with US FDA and ISO standards like IEC 62304, IEC 60601, 21CRF 820 is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management to lead and support successful product development initiatives
  • Contribute across the full product lifecycle—from concept, design, and development through verification, validation, and launch—delivering high‑quality results aligned with business priorities
  • Design, develop, modify, and verify medical device software components in accordance with defined requirements, system architecture, and coding standards
  • Translate user, clinical, market, and Voice of Customer inputs into design requirements, specifications, and advanced component or sub‑system designs
  • Conduct advanced prototyping, testing, research, and problem solving to evaluate design tradeoffs, resolve complex issues, and ensure performance against requirements
  • Apply independent judgment to analyze, correct, and optimize complex design challenges while balancing technical, clinical, and business considerations
  • Participate in code reviews, applying design principles, best practices, and industry standards; estimate development effort, timelines, and resources to support project planning
  • Generate, review, and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including requirements, design, architecture, test artifacts, bugs, and Design History File content
  • Follow and mentor others on R&D procedures, design controls, risk management, regulatory standards, and Quality Management System requirements while building strong engineering relationships
