About The Position

The Staff Software Engineer on the Partner Integrations team is the technical anchor for how NodeZero connects to the security ecosystem. Integrations with platforms such as CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Splunk, and ServiceNow help customers turn NodeZero findings into action and are a core part of the product. This hands-on staff-level role sets technical direction for integration architecture, defines reliability and observability standards, and personally owns the most complex integration surfaces. The engineer writes production code, produces architecture designs, mentors engineers, and helps the team build a reliable portfolio of integrations on a shared framework. The role reports to the Partner Integrations Engineering Manager. Horizon3 is a fully remote cybersecurity company. The job may require up to 5% travel. The annual base salary range is $229,500–$260,000, determined based on the selected candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and relevant skills. Full-time roles are eligible for an equity package in the form of stock options. The company describes its benefits as including health, vision, and dental insurance for the employee and family, a flexible vacation policy, and generous parental leave.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience, with deep specialization in production integrations, connectors, or API platforms.
  • Expert-level understanding of API integration patterns, including OAuth 2.0 and API key authentication lifecycle, webhook delivery and reliability, idempotency, pagination, rate limiting, partial failure handling, and schema evolution.
  • Track record building integrations with major security platforms (EDR, SIEM, SOAR, ITSM) or comparable enterprise SaaS ecosystems.
  • Expert proficiency in Go or Python.
  • Strong grasp of distributed-systems reliability patterns applicable to integration infrastructure, including at-least-once delivery, dead-letter queues, and circuit breakers.
  • Experience designing and operating integration observability, including structured logging, metrics, alerting, and dashboards that surface failures before customers do.
  • Comfort working in cloud-native and containerized environments, including Kubernetes and AWS.
  • Track record of setting engineering standards that other engineers adopt.
  • Ability to produce clear architecture documents and drive technical decisions across team and partner boundaries.
  • Experience mentoring mid-level engineers through design review and code review.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with CrowdStrike Falcon, SentinelOne, Splunk, ServiceNow, Jira, or similar enterprise security and ITSM platforms.
  • Background in the cybersecurity ecosystem, including understanding how SOC teams, MSSPs, and security engineers use the tools NodeZero integrates with.
  • Experience designing field-mapping schemas for cross-platform data translation.
  • Familiarity with integration certification processes, vendor marketplace programs, or partner API agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Design and own the technical framework for Partner Integrations connectors, including authentication lifecycle, event delivery semantics, retry and idempotency patterns, schema mapping, and observability.
  • Personally implement the most technically demanding integrations, including platforms with complex authentication flows, high-volume event schemas, or sensitive customer data handling requirements.
  • Define reliability and observability standards, establish production-readiness criteria and review checklists, and enforce them through code and design reviews.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of key integration partners' APIs and event models and serve as the team's reference point when documentation is insufficient.
  • Mentor P3 and P4 engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and pairing.
  • Own complex integration failures by diagnosing root causes, coordinating with partner engineering teams when needed, and implementing fixes that prevent recurrence.

Benefits

  • Equity package in the form of stock options for full-time roles.
  • Health insurance for the employee and family.
  • Vision insurance for the employee and family.
  • Dental insurance for the employee and family.
  • Flexible vacation policy.
  • Generous parental leave.
