About The Position

Vantor is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to join their team in Westminster, CO. This position is hybrid, allowing remote work two days per week and requiring in-office presence on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The software engineering group is responsible for the Mission Control System (MCS) domain of the Vantor Ground System for their constellation of earth observation satellites. The role reports to an Agile Manager and collaborates with System Engineers, Operations Engineers, Spacecraft Engineers, Space Vehicle Operators, Scrum Masters, and Product Owners. As a member of an agile scrum team, the Staff Software Development Engineer will work on a cross-functional team developing the next generation, cloud-based, satellite ground system software. The team member will be responsible for delivering on-schedule, high-quality operational and test code that adheres to designs, acceptance criteria, and corporate standards, including appropriate demonstrations and documentation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years software development of complex software systems
  • Expertise with Python for webservices (django) and scripting
  • Expertise in Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL, CENTOS/AL3)
  • Expertise with API concepts like REST/JSON/YAML
  • Experience with test automation languages/frameworks: Cucumber, Gherkin, Behave
  • Computer Science or Engineering degree or equivalent experience
  • Must be a U.S. Person, defined as a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, Asylee, or Refugee.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with build and deploy technologies like K8S, docker, jenkins, helm, terraform
  • Experience with RabbitMQ/PostgreSQL/Redis/Elasticsearch
  • Expertise with Ruby and GO programming languages
  • Experience in hybrid cloud networks
  • Experience with CI/CD
  • Experience with Aerospace and/or Satellite Ground Systems
  • Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment

Responsibilities

  • Software design and development of operational code of new features and defect repairs
  • Develop automated unit, functional, and integration tests
  • Demonstration and documentation of functionality and test results
  • Troubleshoot operational issues
  • Support deadlines and communicate issues/results
  • Participate in Communities of Practice for adherence and improvement of best practices
